Board of Governors accepts HUB incident reports

(Edmonton) The University of Alberta Board of Governors, at its December 2012 meeting, accepted two reports prepared by Risk Management Services following the June 15, 2012 incident in HUB Mall. One of the reports examines the operations of the university's Crisis Management Team during the emergency; the other report examines the use of the university's emergency notification systems.

As reported in UAlberta News Oct. 2, 2012, the reports conclude the situation was handled appropriately by the university, while making a number of recommendations for improvement. Among the 19 recommendations contained in the two reports, the authors suggest increased education for the university community about emergency response, updated Protective Services procedures during a major emergency and improvements to the testing procedures for the emergency notification system.
