Campus community marches in the name of pride

Frigid temperatures did little to cool spirits during the 2015 UAlberta Pride Parade.

(Edmonton) The third annual University of Alberta Pride Parade was a rainbow celebration with more participants than ever. Despite the chilly temperature, more than 300 students, staff and faculty toured the core of campus and drew cheers and smiles from the many supporters along the way.

The parade is considered the signature event for U of A Pride Week, which runs until March 7.

The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS) is the lead organizer for both the U of A Pride Parade and Pride Week. Hundreds of sexual and gender minority youth have been helped by iSMSS initiatives, such as Camp fYrefly. Projects like NoHomophobes.com have raised global awareness of homophobic language used in daily online conversation.
