As awareness campaigns go, 5 Days for the Homeless is likely one of the most successful student initiatives ever.
Founded in 2005 by a group of students in the Alberta School of Business, the program has since expanded to more than 20 schools across Canada (and to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States) and raised almost $750,000 for charitable organizations that support homeless and at-risk youth.
In 2011, the 5 Days organizers proved that the movement and the spirit of the event are alive and well at the University of Alberta.
The next 5 Days for the Homeless event will happen Sunday, March 10 to Friday, March 15, 2013.
